Local Libraries to Host Workshops on Applying for Jobs with County Government

Germantown LibraryMontgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL) will begin offering workshops on “How to Apply for Jobs with Montgomery County Government” this month.

The workshops are a part of the MCPL’s Fiscal Years 2017-2020 Strategic Plan to increase workforce and career-focused program offerings. The workshops are presented in collaboration with with the County’s Office of Human Resources (OHR).

“Our strategic direction over the course of the next four years calls for increased workforce-focused programming to support the job seekers who turn to MCPL for assistance,” MCPL Director Parker Hamilton said. “We’re delighted to partner with OHR to offer these valuable, practical workshops for the first time ever,” Hamiltion said.

The sessions will run two hours led by OHR recruiters and will include; an overview of Montgomery County’s job application process, the online application system, and detailed instruction on registering and searching for job opportunities with Montgomery County Government.

“This is a great opportunity for OHR and MCPL to collaborate,” OHR Director Shawn Stokes stated. “Our goal is to help residents understand Montgomery County’s job application process and successfully navigate the online application system,” Stokes said.

The first workshop will take place on Nov. 18th at Germantown Library from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The second workshop is scheduled for Dec. 6th from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Twinbrook Library.
