Local Leaders Announce New Library Hours (PHOTOS & VIDEO)

Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett was joined by a majority of the Montgomery County Council today at the Rockville Memorial Library to announce the expansion of new library hours and additional staffing and materials for local library branches. Montgomery County Public Libraries Director Parker Hamilton kicked off the news conference, which you can watch in its entirety below:

The new library hours are effective as of Oct. 5. The increases in hours, staffing and materials were made possible by recommendations from local leaders totaling $800,000 in the FY 15 operating budget in response to feedback from the community. There are 21 library branches in Montgomery County.

You can find out more information about the branches on this interactive map. You can also see a graph of budget changes over the years here.
