Library Card Sign Up Month (Video)
September is Library Card Sign Up Month and Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL) encourages residents of all ages who don’t have a card to stop by any MCPL branch and sign up. Each person who signs up for a new card will receive a special gift.
“A library card is the key to many experiences – like reading your favorite books, researching countless subjects, listening to music, learning a new language, acquiring a new skill,” said MCPL Director Parker Hamilton. “There are so many opportunities throughout the month to sign up, and the best part is, the card is free.”
Residents can also sign up at any one of the following Outreach Events:
Wednesdays at Milk Lady Farmer’s Market, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
September 7 at Damascus Community Fair
September 14 at Dawson’s Market, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
September 16 at Rockville Memorial Library at an MCPS Parent Academy workshop, 7 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
September 21 at Poolesville Day
September 28 at Flower Avenue Market, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
September 28 at Rockville Town Square, 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
As part of Library Card Month, MCPL invites residents to submit photos of either themselves with their library cards or just their library cards. On Twitter, tweet the picture with #librarycard and @MCPL_Libraries. Or, on MCPL’s Facebook, send the photo in a message.
