Leventhal to Receive Distinguished Public Official Award

George LeventhalMontgomery County Council Vice President George Leventhal, who chairs the Council’s Health and Human Services Committee, at 7 p.m. tonight is slated to be presented with the 2014 Dr. Henry and Page Laughlin Montgomery County Medical Society Distinguished Public Official Award at a dinner at the Bethesda North Marriott.

In a letter informing Council Vice President Leventhal that he was chosen to receive the award, Stephen Rockower, the president of the County Medical Society, wrote: “This award is a fitting honor and tribute to your commitment and dedication to enhancing access to health care for all Montgomery County residents.”

The Medical Society’s stated mission is, “to be the premier physician organization to advocate for and serve physicians, their medical practices and their patients” in Montgomery County.

“I am honored to receive this award from such a vital and prestigious organization in Montgomery County,” said Leventhal. “However, I accept this award representing the many organizations, volunteers and members of the County Council who are dedicated to seeing that all residents of our County have access to quality healthcare. But our efforts can only go as far as getting people in need to the top quality physicians in our County, and in that regard, we are all partners in this mission.”

Leventhal was nominated for the award by Steven Galen and the Primary Care Coalition.
