Leggett Announces New Initiative To Help Eligible Residents Become U.S. Citizens (VIDEO)
Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett joined local nonprofits at Veterans Plaza in Silver Spring early Tuesday to announce the launch of a new initiative aimed to help eligible residents in the County become U.S. Citizens.
To help foster the path towards citizenship program locally, the County joined the Cities for Citizenship campaign, a national initiative aimed at increasing citizenship among eligible residents.
“One of the things that I think is important is to become a U.S. citizen because it allows you to be more involved in the political process, in the county process on a daily basis,” Naznin Saifi, executive director for the Asian Pacific American Legal Resource Center said. “It does assist people in living better lives in the United States.”
