As a Montgomery County native, Ledecky grew up in Bethesda and graduated from Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart in 2015.

Ledecky swam in the 2012 and 2016 Olympic games, earning a total of five gold medals. She is currently a 14-time world record breaker in the 400, 800 and 1500 meter freestyle.

When COVID-19 forced libraries across the county to close in mid-March, councilmember Jawando began hosting a daily virtual storytime.
