Leadership Summit Tackles Boosting Nightlife (Photos)

Creating a nighttime economy task force to boost Montgomery County’s nightlife is just a start, according to Councilmember Hans Riemer (D-At large).

Riemer was one of many officials who spoke at the Sociable City Leadership Summit at the Silver Spring Civic Center. He is one of the main advocates of increasing the economic competitiveness of Montgomery County.

Experts and practitioners are reviewing best practices to discuss a strategic plan around managing and measuring a district focused on dining and entertainment.

The top issues officials discussed on June 24 included:

• Nightlife trends
• Demographic makeup
• Transportation concerns

The two-day summit is being hosted by The Montgomery County Department of Liquor and Responsible Hospitality Institute on June 24 and 25.
