Law Enforcement Officials to Talk Extremism Prevention and Mental Illness

The Faith Community Working Group (FCWG) and law enforcement officials are scheduled to host a town hall meeting to discuss violent extremism prevention, mental illness and the relationship between police officers and the community.

FCWG meetingThe conversation is scheduled to take place on March 16 at 6 p.m. at the People’s Community Baptist Church in Silver Spring.

According to a press release, Montgomery County Police Chief Tom Manger will address the community on issues “related to racism and promoting cultural diversity in the police force, review of police procedures on the use of force in crisis situations, and the citizen’s role in promoting public safety to prevent violence.”

The meeting is open to the public.

People’s Community Baptist Church is at 31 Norwood Road in Silver Spring.
