Latest COVID-19 Numbers: 712 New Maryland Cases, 131 in Montgomery County

Friday morning, the Maryland Department of Health reported 131 new COVID-19 cases in Montgomery County. This is the largest daily increase since Sept. 7 when 140 new cases were recorded. Since the start of the pandemic, the cumulative case count for the county has climbed to 22,810.

The county had a rolling seven-day average of 2.53% for positive COVID-19 tests, which is a lower rate than 16 of Maryland’s 24 jurisdictions.

Montgomery County has led the state in coronavirus-related fatalities, adding one more Friday for a pandemic total of 811. Prince George’s County, however, has recorded over 6,900 more coronavirus cases in total since March.

The state recorded 712 new infections Friday, bringing its total to 126,222. One new death was reported Friday morning, making the pandemic death toll 3,806.

Friday the state reported a rolling seven-day average of 2.93% for positive COVID-19 tests. This is the seventh straight day the state reported an increase.
