Labor Day Festivities Top Our Weekend Planner, Sept. 1 – 4

Glen Echo Park is the place to be this weekend with the 47th Annual Labor Day Art Show, Saturday’s open house featuring free classes and demonstrations, and Monday’s  showcase of Irish music and dance. Kensington celebrates the Labor Day holiday weekend with their annual art show and on Monday, the 50th rendition of their Labor Day Parade and Festival. The popular Kentlands/Lakelands 5K race takes place Saturday. Gaithersburg hosts their 79th Annual Labor Day parade in Olde Towne Monday at 1 p.m.

Monday, Sept. 4

Kensington’s 50th annual Labor Day Parade and Festival is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Commemorative coins will be handed out along the parade route which starts at St. Paul Park and travels down Connecticut Avenue toward Town Hall. Former Mayor Jayne Plank serves as the Grand Marshal. Following the parade, Armory and Mitchell Avenues will be filled with food trucks, vendors, games and activities.

Gaithersburg’s Labor Day Parade returns to the streets of Olde Town. The parade begins at 1 p.m.

Gusto Farm to Street opens it third location at Westfield Montgomery mall. Come out for a free meal from 5 to 8 p.m.
