La Milla de Mayo One Mile Walk & Run Planned for Saturday in Gaithersburg

The inaugural La Milla de Mayo one mile walk and run is set to take place on Saturday, May 7 in Olde Towne, Gaithersburg. “La Milla de Mayo” or The May Mile, is one of Montgomery County’s newest events. 

The City of Gaithersburg and the Montgomery County Road Runners Club are co-sponsors of the event. Local businesses are also pitching in to shine a light on the economic vitality to Olde Towne.

Planned activities during the event include, a 1/4 mile and half mile kid run as well as a pajama contests. Organizers are asking that all pajamas be “family friendly.”

Fees associated with the event are as follows:

• Ages 12 and Over – $19
• Ages 5 – 11 – $10
• Under Age 5 – Free
• Kids Fun Runs – Free for Ages Under 12

You can register for the event online or in person on Saturday. Runners can pick up their packets on Friday, May 6 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Mattress Warehouse located at 451 North Frederick Avenue. Those who plan to register onsite should arrive early to allow time for processing. La Milla de Mayo festivities will take place from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday at the Girard Business Center which is located on 504 East Diamond Avenue.
