Kirwan Commission Chairman: ‘We’ve Got to Make Education More of a Priority’

The Kirwan Commission report was the focus of this month’s edition of Small Business Network at MCM’s Studios in Rockville on Tuesday.

Chairman of the Commission Dr. William Kirwan, Montgomery College president Dr. DeRionne Pollard, and County Councilmember Craig Rice discussed the importance of the report and its goal to prepare students for college or the workforce so they can become successful citizens.

The Kirwan Commission report consists of key recommendations which include better teacher training, teacher salary increase, more resources for at-risk students, and expanding early childhood education and it comes with a hefty cost.
