KinderCare Worker Charged with Sex Offense
A 56-year-old Montgomery Village man faces sex abuse charges involving a 3-year-old girl at a KinderCare Learning Center in Gaithersburg, Montgomery County police said in a statement.
Raul Troy Tuban of the 9400 block of Horizon Run Road worked as a cook and a driver at the center, which was at 18000 Sioux Lane, police said.
Tuban was charged with one count of sexual abuse of a minor and one count of third-degree sexual offense against a juvenile female victim, police said.
Detectives from the Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) received information that Tuban had inappropriate sexual contact with the victim in November 2016, police said.
The child attended the center. On October 22, 2016, she awoke from a nap at the center as Tuban was touching her inappropriately and later that day, she reported the inappropriate contact to a family member, police said. Detectives were notified of the allegations on November 22, 2016, police said.
During a police interview, Tuban provided detectives with inconsistent statements regarding the inappropriate contact with the victim, police said.
After a lengthy and complex investigation, detectives obtained a warrant for Tuban’s arrest. On July 14, Tuban was arrested at his home on the strength of the arrest warrant. He was released after posting a $25,000 bond, according to online court records.
Detectives are requesting that parents of juveniles who attend or attended the center talk to their children and call SVID detectives at 240.773.5400 if they believe their child was victimized.
