Julie Reiley Discusses MCPS Approach to Accelerated and Enriched Instruction

Julie Reiley, candidate for Montgomery County Board of Education At-Large race, participated in the April 23, 2018 Candidates’ Forum hosted by League of Women Voters of Montgomery County. Tracie Potts of NBC 4 moderated the forum. Reiley responded to this question:

MCPS Superintendent Jack Smith is pursuing a shift of resources for specialized services directly to schools as reflected in the County Executives FY 2019 operating budget proposal. This means directing funding away from the MCPS central office and eliminating key coordinating positions in Rockville. Please provide your views on this approach as it pertains to accelerated and enriched instruction. AEI.

The forum included Ryan Arbuckle, Timur Edib, Marwa Omar Ibrahim, Julie Reiley, Brandon Orman Rippeon, John A. Robertson, Karla Silvestre, and Stephen Sugg in the at large; Lynn Amano, Patricia O’Neill, and Laura Simon in the District 3 race.

Marwa Ibrahim, Julie Reiley, Stephen Sugg, Ryan Arbuckle, and Patricia O’Neill responded to the question.
