Groundbreaking at Twinbrook (Photos)
Montgomery County and city of Rockville officials joined The JBG Companies, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) and Safeway on September 30 to celebrate the start of construction on the Galvan at Twinbrook and The Terano.
The developing mixed-used communities, to be located on either side of the Metro station, are expected to enhance the growing transit-oriented area that is known as Rockville’s Twinbrook community.
The ground breaking ceremony was held at 5751 Fishers Lane, Rockville.

When complete, Galvan at Twinbrook and The Terano will consist of more than 500 residential units and more than 130,000 square feet of retail space near the Twinbrook Metro Station. A joint development with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), this transit-oriented, mixed-use district is connected to both the city elements of Rockville Pike and the Metro and the natural environment of Rock Creek Park. The new residential units, an urban-concept Safeway grocery store and additional restaurant and retail space are expected to further enhance Twinbrook as a destination, day and night.
