FSG describes the memoir as “an inspiring book about fathers and sons, Black masculinity, and the transformative power of mentors in the life of a young Black man.”
Set to release in Spring 2022, I'm so thankful to be in a position to write this book at such an important time in history. Thank you in advance for all the love and support! 🙏🏾📚 @publisherswkly

“My Black Fathers” is scheduled to be released sometime in spring 2022 to coincide with events like graduations and Father’s Day.
Jawando tweeted about the book deal on Monday, saying, “Pinching myself that as we start #BlackHistoryMonth I can announce that @fsgbooks has acquired rights to publish my 1st book, ‘My Black Fathers,’ which will explore fatherhood, Black masculinity, mentorship & forgiveness through the lens of the seven Black men who made me whole.”
Jawando’s book will profile a range of people who have influenced him, from basketball coaches to former President Barack Obama (Jawando worked in the Obama White House).
“I’m so thankful to be in a position to write this book at such an important time in history. Thank you in advance for all the love and support!” Jawando tweeted.
