Inspired Wootton Swimmers (Photos)
The 2012-13 Wootton High School Girls Swimming and Diving team, which had an unbeaten regular season of dual meets, won the Maryland 4A/3A West Region and state championships and then went on to win its first Washington Metropolitan Interscholastic championship, was honored for its accomplishments on June 18 by the Montgomery County Council.
The Rockville team dedicated its season to 14-year coach Howard Blume, who tragically passed away in April of 2012. The Patriots swam each meet with the words “For Blume” on their swim caps.
Councilmember Phil Andrews presented a proclamation on behalf of the Council to swim team members Kimberly Clausing (center) and Jessica Chen.
