Inner Mongolia Delegation to Visit Recycling Center
A 17-member delegation from Inner Mongolia, China, will meet with representatives of the Department of Environmental Protection’s Division of Solid Waste Services (DSWS) on Friday, May 2 at the County’s Recycling Center on Route 355 to learn more about the County’s solid waste and recycling operations.
DSWS representatives will brief the visitors on the County’s ambitious goal to reduce waste and recycle 70 percent of waste generated by 2020, and its integrated solid waste management system – which includes waste minimization, reuse and recycling, as well as conversion of waste-to-energy.
The group, which includes the director of the Solid Waste Management Center of Mongolia, also will tour the state-of-the-art Recycling Center and the Shady Grove Processing Facility and Transfer Station operations.
The delegation has expressed an interest in learning more about the County’s Solid Waste Services in the areas of waste management practices, services provided, technologies utilized and facilities operations.
