Injured Deer Closes Executive Office Building’s Parking Garage (VIDEO)

One floor of the Montgomery County Executive Office Building’s parking garage was closed on Thursday morning after a deer was discovered in it.

It is unknown how long the animal was in the second level of the garage or how it entered the structure at 101 Monroe Street.

Rockville police officers responded to the call, and a wildlife technician from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) was also called to the scene.

MyMCMedia obtained a video of the deer from Montgomery County that shows the animal standing near a wall of the county garage and panting:

DNR Spokesperson Kristen Peterson said the agency’s wildlife technician determined the deer was injured and a danger to others.

A spokesperson for the city of Rockville confirmed the deer was put down.

“An injured deer was trapped in the garage,” said Rockville spokesperson Marylou Berg in an email. “The animal was euthanized.”

A county official said the second level of the garage reopened for parking around 11 a.m. on Thursday.
