Informational Meeting to Discuss Incorporating Bethesda Set for Tonight

Two local organizations, the East Bethesda Citizens Association and Coalition of Bethesda Area Residents, are hosting the Maryland Municipal League (MML) for an informational meeting about what it takes for Bethesda to incorporate into its own municipality.

According to an event posted on Facebook, the meeting will take place in the cafeteria at the Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School on Jan. 12 at 7 p.m.

Gaithersburg Mayor Jud Ashman confirmed that he was invited to attend by MML. He said he expects to field some questions on zoning authority. In case you are wondering, the city of Gaithersburg was incorporated back in 1878.
