‘Immemorial’ art exhibition at the Betty Mae Kramer Gallery and Music Room in the Silver Spring Civic Building is on view Oct. 12 through Dec. 7. The exhibit includes new works by Montgomery County- based artists Shanthi Chandrasekar and Susan Goldman.

The opening reception for the exhibit is Friday, Oct. 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. and is open to the public.  Tickets can be reserved here: https://immemorial.eventbrite.com.

‘Immemorial’ brings together two artists with a shared interest in the circle, a shape and symbol that has signified a multitude of meanings by cultures all over the world since ancient times. Shanthi Chandrasekar, an artist trained in the traditional Tanjore Style painting, includes her recent “Red Dot” series of intricate ink drawings and her paintings that reference the circle as a conductor of spiritual power. Susan Goldman also explores these associations with new screenprints and monotypes where the circle motif unites prints from different bodies of work included in this exhibition. “These prints invite the observer to delight in one of the great primordial images of human kind”, says Susan Goldman.

The exhibit is curated by Amina Cooper, Arts & Humanities Council of Montgomery County’s (AHCMC) Public Art Manager and made possible by the Council, The Montgomery County Public Art Trust, and the Montgomery County Government.
