Icy Conditions Causing Accidents Throughout MoCo
The weather mix caused many accidents and closures on Sunday and temporarily put the county’s 911 system on a “condition red.”
According to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Spokesman Pete Piringer the high volume of calls and the length of time it was taking to clear them was the reason for the “condition red” announcement. From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the 911 operators handled more than 100 calls for service. A typical 24-hour period, he said, is about 350.
