Human Remains Found in Rockville
Update, Dec. 11, 5 p.m.: The body found in Rockville is a white male, at least 60 years old and between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall, according to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The Medical Examiner estimates the individual has been dead for at least a year, police said. The manner and cause of death is still under investigation.
Original post: Montgomery County police say a man walking his dog found skeletal remains in a wooded area in Rockville.
The discovery, about 5 p.m. Tuesday, was made near Shady Grove Road and Procera Drive, police said.
The person was wearing a blue sweatshirt with the words QUEBECOR PRINTING (USA) CORP. written on the front, a black or green San Antonio Spurs ball cap, and blue and white size 11 Asics GEL-Kayano sneakers.
The remains have been taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore to conduct an autopsy. The results could determine the cause and manner of death, as well as the sex of the individual and other identifiers, police said.
Investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the person.
This investigation is ongoing. Detectives are urging anyone who has information about the identity of this person and/or this undetermined death to contact the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070. Tipsters will remain anonymous.
