House Fire in Potomac Causes $500,000 in Damage (PHOTOS)
Montgomery County firefighters are investigating what caused a house fire at 12909 Brushwood Terrace in Potomac on Nov. 22 that caused an estimated half a million dollars in damage.
According to Fire and Rescue Spokesperson Pete Piringer, firefighters reported heavy fire conditions upon arrival as flames were shooting through the roof early Saturday morning.
The house is located in a non-hydrant area, Piringer said, so tanker trucks were called in to provide more water to fight the fire.
Because of the cold temperatures, Piringer said sand trucks were also needed to deal with the icy conditions that formed from the water that was used to extinguish the fire.
There were some road closures because of this incident. Piringer said Travilah Road between River Road and Glen Road was closed for a while while firefighters were working at this scene.
Piringer said the large house was under renovation at the time of the fire and unoccupied.
The investigation continues.
