House Fire in Glenmont area of Silver Spring
A house fire in the Glenmont area of Silver Spring caused an estimated $60,000 in damage on Jan. 3, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services Spokesperson Pete Piringer.
The blaze at 2714 Lindell Street displaced three adults, a child and two dogs, according to Piringer.
Piringer said on his Twitter account that the fire involved a mattress in a basement bedroom at the two-story Cape Cod style house. He said the cause of the fire was undetermined.
A firefighter, Piringer said, was injured during the department’s response but has been treated and released.
The smoking alarm in the house was not working, Piringer said.
According to Piringer, the Red Cross is assisting the occupants with housing.
