Montgomery County firefighters are trying to determine what sparked a house fire on East Light Drive in Silver Spring on Sunday afternoon, according to a Montgomery County fire official.

Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson Pete Piringer said about 45 firefighters responded to the scene and there was smoke showing at the two-story house as they pulled up. He said the fire was contained to the basement and first floor of the single family house.

According to Piringer, the smoke alarms activated and there were no injuries.

Piringer said three people have been displaced by the blaze.

Damages are estimated at $50,000, he said.

So far, there is no word on what caused the fire.
