House Fire Causes an Estimated $1.5 Million in Damages in North Bethesda (PHOTOS)
A house fire in North Bethesda caused an estimated $1.5 million in damages on Sunday night, according to a Montgomery County fire official.
Fire and Rescue Services Spokesperson Pete Piringer said approximately 85 firefighters responded to the two-alarm fire at 11801 Danville Drive, next to the Green Acres School, at 11:20 p.m. on Oct. 9.
According to Piringer, it took firefighters 30 minutes to knock down the bulk of the fire. Piringer said the family who lived at the house heard some noises and was able to safely evacuate to a neighbor’s house. He said two firefighters received minor injuries at the scene of the blaze.
As for the cause of the fire, Piringer said the fire appears to have originated on the front porch and it has been ruled accidental in nature. He said a pet cat remains missing.
Firefighters remained on the scene overnight to monitor some hot spots, according to Piringer.
The investigation continues.
