Montgomery County firefighters responded to a two-alarm house fire with the report of people trapped on March 17 shortly after 2 p.m. in the 11900 block of Old Columbia Pike in Silver Spring.

According to Assistant Fire Chief Scott Graham, one adult female was rescued from a second floor window after another adult male jumped from the second floor. Graham said both people have been transported to a local trauma center with minor injuries. The fire was brought under control in 15 minutes, according to the fire chief’s blog. Damage is estimated at about $125,000 to the structure and $75,000 to the contents, according to the chief’s blog.

Graham said the residence did not have a working smoke alarm and five people (two adult and three children) have been displaced.
