Holocaust Remembrance Day (Photo)
Halina Peabody, a survivor of the Holocaust, appeared before the Montgomery County Council on April 2 as the Council recognized Holocaust Remembrance Day. Ms. Peabody spoke on why current and future generations must be told about the Holocaust so the atrocities committed by Nazi Germany in the 1930s and 1940s are never repeated. In 1980, Congress designated “Days of Remembrance” to recall and reflect on the horrible crimes committed during the Holocaust. County Council President Nancy Navarro presented a proclamation on behalf of the Council.
