Hogan Submits Supplemental Budget; Includes Bonus Pay for State Employees

Gov. Larry Hogan on Monday submitted a $74.1 million supplemental budget for the Fiscal Year 2022, which would include a $1,000 bonus for all state employees.

The supplemental budget was submitted to the state legislature as an amendment to be included in the proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2022. It requires legislative approval.

Pending approval, the $1,000 bonus would take effect April 14 for most state employees. University System of Maryland employees could expect to see the bonus April 21.

“This supplemental budget recognizes the hard work of our state employees, who have overcome significant challenges to deliver essential services to Marylanders during this public health emergency,” Hogan said in a statement. “We have been successful in weathering this storm without having to implement any layoffs or furloughs.”

Hogan thanked many essential employees. “I want to especially thank our front line workers, including police officers, healthcare workers, highway maintenance workers, and all of our dedicated public servants for their exceptional service,” he said.
