Hogan Signs Amazon, Metro Bills at Strathmore

Gov. Larry Hogan and legislative leaders sign the bill meant to entice Amazon to Maryland.

Gov. Larry Hogan signed two bills important to Montgomery County on Wednesday on the stage at Strathmore — the legislation to lure Amazon to Montgomery County and the dedicated funding for Metro.

The Amazon bill, Hogan said, “puts our state in prime position to attract Amazon’s new headquarters. This is the biggest economic development opportunity in a generation, perhaps in our lifetime.”

He said the 50,000 jobs expected from the new “HQ2” would translate into 101,000 new jobs for Maryland and $17 billion for the state’s economy.
