Hogan Orders Maryland Flag Lowered to Honor Fallen Heroes and Healthcare Workers

Gov. Larry Hogan has ordered the Maryland flag to be lowered to honor more than 1,000 Maryland residents that have died due to the coronavirus, Hogan announced today.

The flags were lowered to half staff at noon today and will stay lowered until sunset on Sunday, May 3. The lowering of the flag throughout the weekend is in honor of Maryland’s fallen heroes and frontline healthcare workers as well.

Friday is Fallen Heroes Day meant to honor the men and women of the police, firefighter and first responder families, according to Hogan. In addition, Saturday is Healthcare Heroes Day dedicated to celebrating healthcare workers on the front lines.

“This weekend, please join me in keeping our heroes and our fallen in your hearts, and let us continue to pray for each other, for our state, and for our nation as we face this crisis together,” stated Hogan.
