Hogan Announces First Coronavirus Death in Maryland
Gov. Larry Hogan announced the first coronavirus-related death in Maryland on social media Wednesday evening.
The patient was a Prince George’s County resident in his sixties “who suffered from an underlying medical condition.”
Hogan said in a statement: “It is with profound sadness that I announce the first death in Maryland as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. I ask all Marylanders to join me in praying for his family and loved ones during this difficult time. As we pray for his loved ones, I ask that we continue to pray for each other, for our state, and for our nation as we face this crisis together. We must use every possible resource at every level of government to save lives and keep people safe.”
Hogan will provide further details about the coronavirus pandemic to the press Thursday at 10 a.m.

I am so saddened by this death. We need to stay away from each other so less people will contract this deadly virus. Yet just today I was taking a short walk on Main Street in the Kentlands in Gaithersburg. Most of the nail spas were open and women were getting manicures! This puts them and the technician a foot away from each other face to face!!! What are we doing.? We need to take this seriously or it will prolong the length of time till we can get back to even a new normal. Having pretty nails is so friilous at a time folks are fighting to survive both physically and financially. I am angry about this. How can I get this message out?
It seems that denial must be at work among people who fail to take corona virus for the serious public health threat that it is. Another big problem is that some business owners are pressuring employees to work, and also those employees who are not pressured from bosses will feel pressured from inside themselves to work because their economic well being is so precarious. These times are so hard and painful. It feels so heavy and sad, and I agree, when I think about seeing things like what you saw it makes me want to scream.
Why are they opening liquor stores… We cannot work in risk. Please shutdown liquor store. This is funny
