Hispanic Gala Set for Tonight
Ike Leggett announced the First Montgomery County Executive Hispanic Gala will be held September 12, 2013
The County Executive’s first annual Hispanic Gala takes place tonight at the Fillmore where 25 Latino students will receive college scholarship.
Leggett will also recognize three awardees: Mrs. Maria Socorro Garcia, a Montgomery County Public Schools ESOL Counselor; Montgomery College President Dr. DeRionne Pollard, and U.S. Secretary of Labor Thomas E. Perez.
The Executive’s Hispanic Gala will serve to kick off Hispanic Heritage Month in Montgomery County and the State of Maryland. The Gala brings together volunteer stakeholders and organizations that are committed to helping Hispanic youth achieve a high level of education.
