Hispanic Achievement Scholarships Available
The Maryland Hispanic Achievement Scholarship competition is open to Maryland high school seniors and college undergraduate students of Hispanic descent, who maintain full time or part time status at an accredited post-secondary institution beginning in the fall of 2014.
To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must have a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5 or greater or General Educational Development (GED) certification with a recommendation from the academic advisor, plan to attend school for an entire academic year and have financial need.
Applicants must also have leadership and community involvement. The purpose of the scholarship is to assist Hispanic students who live in Maryland to achieve potential life goals and make a positive impact on their lives. Scholarships provide recipients with a one time assistance of $2,000.
The deadline to submit an application is May 30. Awards will be presented at the Montgomery County Executive Hispanic Gala Thursday, Sept 18. For details and an application form, visit the Scholarship page on the Montgomery County Executive Hispanic Gala website.

To kick off Hispanic Heritage Month, Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett will host the first annual Executive’s Hispanic Gala on September 12. The inaugural event, called “Latino Dreamers” celebrates Maryland’s Dream Act. Funds raised will assist 25 Latino students enrolled in Maryland colleges and universities.
