Heritage Days Festival (Video)

On the last weekend of June, Heritage Montgomery hosts its signature event: the annual Heritage Days Celebration. This two-day, free-of-charge, county-wide festival offers visitors an opportunity to sample numerous sites representing the history, culture and natural beauty of Montgomery County.

Saturday, June 29 will feature a full day of activities to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Confederate General J.E.B. Stuart’s march through Montgomery County on his way to Gettysburg! The event, The Civil War Comes to Rockville will begin at 10 a.m. at the Historic Red Brick Courthouse, 29 Courthouse Square in Rockville where John W. Franklin will present a lecture entitled “Changing America”. The Beall-Dawson House and Stonestreet Museum of 19th Century Medicine will feature re-enactments of Civil War camp life from 12 noon to 2 p.m. The June 28, 1863 arrival of J.E.B. Stuart in Rockville will be reenacted at Courthouse Square at 3 p.m.
