Here’s a List of Martin Luther King Day of Service Projects
Martin Luther King Jr. Day is considered a day of service in Montgomery County.
On Jan. 15, thousands of residents will participate in service projects throughout the county to help those in need.
Here’s a list of some projects happening throughout the county.
MLK Day at the Marriott Conference Center
Organized by the Montgomery County Volunteer Center, Montgomery County’s main service event will take place again this year at the North Bethesda Marriott Hotel and Conference Center. The event will include service projects and a volunteer fair from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Service projects include family friendly activities such as decorating cards, packaging food, constructing fleece blankets, and assembling “Snow Day” boxes. MLK Day at Seneca Creek Community Church
Seneca Creek Community Church and the City of Gaithersburg are partnering up to create projects for all ages and ability levels. Signing up in advance is required. Click here for more information and to register.
Project Management Day of Service
Students will be engaged in the following activities: set up for the event; directing traffic to the parking lot; helping with tech issues at specific table groups; helping with check-in process; helping with directing crowd to surveys on their way out; helping at the social media table in engaging people for activities. MLK Jr. Day of Service at UUCR
Hosted by the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Rockville, volunteers will make paracord survival bracelets, pet tug toys, Dr. Seuss hat pencil holders, trufulla tree book marks, cards for seniors, and fleece blankets. For more information and to register, click here.
Behrend Builders MLK Day of Service
Volunteers will putting a fresh coat of paint on dormitories in an emergency men’s shelter in Northeast DC. Sign up here.
