Help Rockville Police Give Back (Video)

Rockville City Police Department (RCPD) will participate in the 18th annual Chesapeake Bay Polar Bear Plunge to raise money for Special Olympics. The event will take place at Sandy Point State Park on Jan. 25 from 1 to 3 p.m. This is the fifth year Rockville Police has participated in this special event.

The 18th annual Maryland State Police Polar Bear Plunge benefits Special Olympics Maryland as participants take in the thrills and chills of bay waters. At last year’s plunge, more than 20 RCPD officers participated and raised more than $4,000 for Special Olympics Maryland.

This is the fifth year that RCPD officers will be taking the plunge. RCPD has raised more than $18,000 for Special Olympics Maryland over the years. This year’s team will consist of more than 10 officers and civilian staff plunging into the bay, including K-9 Boomer. The RCPD will also be participating in a special police plunge on the Friday before along with numerous other departments from across the state.
