Harvest Moon Festival in Silver Spring Showcases Diversity in Town

Dozens of people gathered in Silver Spring’s Town Center for the fourth annual Harvest Moon Festival.

“The autumn season has begun and it’s been celebrated traditionally throughout the world in various cultures,” said Lisa Martin, Executive Director of Silver Spring Town Center.

To honor the various cultures who celebrate the Autumn Equinox time, Martin says the festival showcases songs and dances representing the various cultures in Silver Spring.

“We had Mariachi Los Amigos performing, we had Kelanidhi Dance which is traditional Indian dance. We had the Cuban Blanco y Negro who are just exceptional and the School of Samba, so a variety of music and dance around the globe,” said Martin.

Organizers say their main goal it to display the diversity that Silver Spring is made of.
