H2O Summit (Video)

Everyone plays an important role in protecting the region’s water and watersheds. That message is paramount at the upcoming H2O Summit, an event produced through a partnership between WSSC and Montgomery County’s Department of Environmental Protection on Saturday, March 22 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Silver Spring Civic Building, One Veterans Plaza.

The afternoon “Festival” session runs from 1-4 p.m. and features live music, interactive games and activities for the entire family, and more than 40 organizations and green vendors. This year, the Festival will feature well-known environmental Masters of Ceremonies: Jim Foster, President of Anacostia Watershed Society; Matthew Logan, President & Potomac Riverkeeper; and, Fred Tutman, Patuxent Riverkeeper.

For the first time ever, this year’s “Festival” portion of the H2O Summit features live Music:

• Dan Barry, Singer/Songwriter
• The Exclusives, Dance and Cover Band
• B2R Bethesda Bands, Classic and Modern
• SongRise DC

The afternoon session will also feature mini-workshops with experts on such topics as:

• Edible Forests with Kim Walsh, CHEARS
• Ten Ways to Help the Anacostia with Vaughn Perry, Anacostia Watershed Society
• Creating a Permaculture Garden in Your Own Front Yard with Davey Rogner, Harvest Collective
• Helping the Frogs with Virginia Vassalotti, Montgomery County DEP
• Five Things to Take Care of Your Trees with Herb White, M-NCPPC

The morning session features roundtable discussions with local nonprofit, government and university environmental experts discussing a range of conservation issue and runs from 9:30 a.m – 1 p.m. Advance registration is required. Register here.
