Governor Orders Flags to Half Staff May 10th in Honor of Fallen Edgewood Soldier

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan has ordered the United States and Maryland flags to be lowered to half staff on Wednesday, May 10 in honor of Army Staff Sergeant Mark De Alencar, who died on April 8 in Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan while serving in Operation Freedom’s Sentinel.

According to a press release, De Alencar was a native of Edgewood, Maryland and was a member of the 7th Special Forces Group, assigned to Eglin Air Force Base in Florida.

The flags are to be returned to full staff at sunset.
