Governor Larry Hogan Appoints Will Smith to Fill District 20 Senate Seat (VIDEO)
Governor Larry Hogan announced this week the appointment of Delegate Will Smith to fill the vacant District 20 Maryland Senate seat.
According to a news release, the governor made the appointment after receiving recommendations from the Democratic Central Committees Montgomery County. The governor also appointed Delegate Barbara Robinson to fill a vacant Baltimore City senate seat.
“I am confident that Barbara Robinson and Will Smith will continue to be strong advocates for their constituents in the state senate,” Hogan said. “I offer my sincere congratulations to the new senators and look forward to working with them in their new roles to change Maryland for the better,” he said.
Smith will represent District 20 the county, filling the seat vacated by Congressman-elect Jamie Raskin. Smith has been a member of the Maryland House of Delegates since Jan. 2015, where he served as a member of the Judiciary Committee and Advisory Council on Determination of Impact of Regulations on Small Business.
