Governor Calls Storm “A Monster”

On CNN this morning, Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley called Hurricane Sandy “a monster.”

He said the state’s preparations have been “intense” with 23 shelters opened and hundreds of National Guard personnel mobilized.

The Governor said  it looks like the storm is going to make landfall across Maryland and he warned that the storm will not be quick moving like the derecho.

Evacuations have already been ordered for low lying areas as officials worry about damage and flooding from the storm surge.
