Glenmont Is Getting a New Fire Station; Groundbreaking Ceremony on May 18
The Glenmont area will soon have a new fire station. Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett is scheduled to take part in a groundbreaking ceremony on May 18 at 11 a.m.
The new Glenmont Fire Station Number 18 is a result of the a partnership between the county and the Maryland State Highway Administration’s grade-separated interchange project for the Georgia Avenue and Randolph Road intersection.
According to a news release, the new building will feature the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and is expected to receive a Silver Certification by incorporating environmentally-sensitive design elements.
Other officials joining Leggett: Councilmembers Marc Elrich, Nancy Navarro and Sidney Katz. Also Department of General Services Director David Dise, Acting Fire Chief Scott Goldstein and the President of the Kensington Volunteer Fire Department Steven Semler.
Parking will be available on the site. New fire station location is at 12210 Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring.
