Glenallan Elementary Principal Receives Superintendent’s Mark Mann Excellence and Harmony Award (VIDEO & PHOTO)
The Montgomery County Board of Education honored Glenallan Elementary School Principal Peter Moran for receiving the Superintendent’s Annual Mark Mann Excellence and Harmony award at a School Board meeting on Tuesday.
According to a memo from Interim Superintendent Larry Bowers, the award is given annually to a Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) administrator, “who has shown exceptional performance in promoting academic excellence, positive human relations, and community outreach.”
Bowers noted that Moran was chosen for the award for his dedication in providing students with a challenging academic program. Moran’s record includes securing grants for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics opportunities, according to Bowers memo. He has also established a partnership with Action in Montgomery to promote free after-school programs and after-school care for families in need. Moran is also a participant in the Kennedy Cluster projects.
Moran told MyMCMedia that receiving the award has been “a very humbling experience,” for him. In the MCPSTV video below, Moran expresses what the award means him.
