GGCC Named to Washington Business Journal’s List of Largest Chambers of Commerce in D.C.

The Gaithersburg-Germantown Chamber of Commerce (GGCC), a vital, dynamic organization of 418 members, including cutting-edge biotech firms, manufacturing companies, real estate development organizations, restaurants and hotels, has been named to the Washington Business Journal’s List of Largest Chambers in Greater D.C. This is the eighth time the GGCC has been named to the list, consecutively.

“We are honored to be recognized for our continued work supporting the missions of so many Upcounty businesses,” said Marilyn Balcombe, GGCC President.

The GGCC fosters business-to-business relationships through monthly business networking events throughout the year in efforts to support the start of new businesses in Montgomery County Maryland. The Chamber is committed to business & community partnerships in education and other areas of mutual interest.

The Chamber strives to “serve, represent and be the leading advocate for the interests of its membership in ways that enhance the business environment, quality of life, and well-being of their unique communities”.

They are one of the most influential forces in local government and regional economic development. As one of the largest chambers in Montgomery County, their legislative agenda is based on business issues that impact their members. The goal is to work with local city, county and state lawmakers to strengthen, enhance & protect businesses.

Laura authors the blog Your Success is Our Business on MyMCMedia. Laura is the Director of Events & Marketing for the Gaithersburg-Germantown Chamber of Commerce - a member-based organization of businesses that have joined together for the purpose of promoting the civic, commercial and industrial progress in our communities. The area's economic well-being is a result of the caliber of work that is done by the Chamber. The Chamber has a major impact on business, income and future growth of the area. My position at the Chamber - Director of Events & Marketing - affords me the opportunity to plan quality events for our Members and market the Chamber is a variety of avenues. At the GGCC, we typically have around 30 events each year including: breakfasts, lunches, after-five's, ribbon cuttings and special events. The consensus is we have high quality events with good energy. In 2012, we had over 2,040 people visit our events. Most our events are free to Members so securing sponsorships for all events. Additionally, I am responsible for planning networking, overseeing the budget and marketing of all events in order to make them successful. Lastly, I coordinate all marketing and communication efforts of the GGCC including weekly email blasts, its quarterly newsletter, all social media platforms, media relations and community outreach.
