GGCC Entrepreneur Breakfast Series Starts October 8

The Gaithersburg-Germantown Chamber of Commerce will host our first program in our new Entrepreneur Breakfast Series on Thursday, October 8 from 7:45 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. at Montgomery College, BioScience Education Center, 20200 Observation Drive in Germantown.

This first series is entitled “Are Entrepreneur’s Born or Made”. Do you think entrepreneurs are made or born? I say made, my partner says born. What do you say? Is it a combination of both? Either way, we are going to attempt to answer this longstanding debate at our Entrepreneur Breakfast Series.

“It takes a lot of hard work, determination, and courage to start a business. We want to take a look at what it takes to make that leap. What are the characteristics of an entrepreneur? Are they born or made? I assume it’s a little of both, but we’ll find out, “said Marilyn Balcombe, GGCC Executive Director.

The morning will begin with our keynote speaker Oliver Schlake, Ph. D., a Clinical Professor at the Robert H. Smith School of Business who will speak on “Are Entrepreneurs Born or Made”.

He will be followed by a panel discussion of “home- grown” entrepreneurs. Each panelist will share their “entrepreneur” story, what motivated them to take the entrepreneurial leap, and they will answer the question—“are entrepreneurs born or made?”

Businesses are invited to come and discover their inner entrepreneur and/or share experiences with your fellow entrepreneur’s. There is power in working with committed individuals who are on a similar path.

Come and meet a broader cross section of the County’s entrepreneurs. This program is open to any and all members of the community. It’s for those who want to be, who aspire to be, who are, who dream to be, and who are accomplished Entrepreneurs!

Registration begins at 7:45 a.m.; program begins promptly at 8:15 a.m.

Program:

  • “Are Entrepreneurs Born or Made” with Oliver Schlake, University of Maryland

Entrepreneur Panel with:

  • John Compton, GeneDx
  • Angela Graham, Quality Biological, Inc.
  • Ellen Bogage, Chesapeake Public Strategies
