Gayles Stresses Importance of Residents Waiting Their Turn for Vaccinations
County health officials say some residents have tried to get the COVID-19 vaccine before it’s their turn.
Currently, Montgomery County is in the process of moving into Phase 1B of the vaccination process.
“We are hopeful that we will be able to move forward and begin offering vaccines to those over the age of 75 as early as next week,” said Montgomery County Health Officer Dr. Travis Gayles during a virtual media briefing on Thursday.
Individuals who meet the current vaccination criteria are welcomed to preregister online. Once residents preregister, a link is sent out to schedule an appointment. However, Dr. Gayles says some of those links have been shared ‘inappropriately,’ and people who do not meet the current criteria are trying to schedule appointments to be vaccinated.
Dr. Gayles explains why residents must wait for their turn.
💉 If you are 75 or older, you may preregister to make your #COVID19 vaccine appointment in Montgomery County. 👀 ➡ https://t.co/X4P2NwqtE9.
