Gas Tax (Video)

On Jan. 28, Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett and Council President Nancy Navarro issued a joint statement about a new transportation proposal in Annapolis. In this video clip, Navarro explains why finding new transportation funding is so important to Montgomery County.

Here’s a look at the entire joint statement issued by Leggett and Navarro:

“We applaud Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller for his leadership in putting forward a proposal to increase funding for transportation. We are hopeful that President Miller’s bill will begin the conversation about a sustainable revenue source to fund all of Marylands’ transportation priorities.

“We strongly believe that transportation funding is a state obligation that requires a state solution. We support decisive statewide action by the General Assembly to increase revenue dedicated to transportation. As with any tax program, we hope the state will explore ways of minimizing the impact on lower income families.

“We look forward to working closely with the Montgomery County Delegation in Annapolis to pass legislation that generates the transportation revenue we need to keep Maryland’s economy strong and our state moving forward.”
