Gandhi Brigade Youth Presents “Juvenile Justice: The Road to Reform” (VIDEO)

Seven high school students, members of the Gandhi Brigade Youth Media produced the documentary: Juvenile Justice: The Road to Reform.

On Oct. 15, Gandhi Brigade, a nonprofit that works on empowering young people through media, is hosting a free screening in Silver Spring.

Following the screening, there will be a panel conversation on the juvenile justice system featuring Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh, Maryland Delegate Will Smith, Managing Director Maryland Multicultural Youth Centers Luisa Montero-Diaz, and The Choice Program Director LaMar Davis.

Read the film’s description:

It was a turbulent spring of 2015 as protesters and rioters took to the streets of Baltimore expressing their frustration with the justice system.

Fifty miles away seven high school students watched the scene unfold and asked themselves why it happened. What were the factors that lead to this situation, and more importantly, what could be done to make our youth safer in the communities where they live?
